The Capitol Forum is seeking a reporter with a proven ability to break news and write clear, in-depth, accurate stories on headline-grabbing mergers. The beat is extremely competitive: We’re looking for an aggressive journalist who can get market-moving scoops that shed light on government processes and place the news in context with penetrating analysis. The best candidate will be a natural at building a source network and show persistence and determination in getting a story. Knowledge or background in competition law isn’t required, but you must be interested in learning what antitrust is and why it’s so important in today’s world.

To succeed in this role, you will need to:

  • Acquire and review a variety of documents from government agencies and publicly traded companies, including annual and quarterly corporate filings
  • Track a variety of government and industry calendars
  • Participate on conference calls, interact with subscribers, and attend outside events



  • At least two years of journalism experience
  • Ability to write clearly and quickly
  • Passion to break news and write incisive analysis
  • Interest in the intersection of business, government, politics and the law
  • Team player
