The Capitol Forum Strengthens Antitrust Team with Senior Correspondent Josh Kosman

Published on Sep 26, 2025

The Capitol Forum is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Kosman as Senior Correspondent, based in New York. Kosman will join our antitrust team, bringing decades of experience uncovering high-impact regulatory and business stories. His addition underscores The Capitol Forum’s commitment to delivering exclusive reporting and incisive analysis at the intersection of competition, regulation, and corporate power.

Kosman spent 16 years as a business reporter for the New York Post, where he broke major regulatory stories, including the revelation that the Federal Trade Commission had obtained internal Facebook communications showing the company acquired Instagram in 2012 to eliminate a competitor. In 2009, he authored the Penguin exposé The Buyout of America: How Private Equity is Destroying Jobs and Killing the American Economy. The book drew national attention, with President Obama reportedly using the chapter on Mitt Romney as a prime source for his critique of the Republican candidate’s business record during the 2012 U.S. presidential campaign.

Earlier in his career, Kosman founded the U.S. office of Mergermarket and has built a reputation for breaking scoops and explaining Wall Street with clarity to a wide audience. His reporting has been impactful across industries, from exposing exploitative practices at the Subway restaurant chain to deep investigations into private equity’s influence on the American economy.

“I’m excited to join The Capitol Forum and contribute to its tradition of hard-hitting journalism,” Kosman said. “The Capitol Forum’s focus on connecting regulatory decisions to real-world outcomes is vital for understanding how markets and industries truly operate, and I look forward to breaking stories that matter to policymakers, investors, and the public.”

Teddy Downey, CEO and Executive Editor of The Capitol Forum, said: “Josh is one of the most impactful investigative business reporters of his generation, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our newsroom. His record of breaking exclusive stories and holding powerful interests accountable aligns perfectly with our mission. With Josh joining our antitrust team, we are expanding our ability to deliver high-value reporting that shapes debates in Washington, New York, and beyond.”

Kosman will join a dynamic U.S. and international reporting team that continues to grow, following recent expansions in Europe. Together, our correspondents deliver trusted, investigative journalism that breaks critical news first and provides the deep analysis subscribers rely on to navigate today’s complex regulatory landscape.
