The senior correspondent will monitor EU sanctions packages, export-control measures and related licensing decisions, trade enforcement actions, and cross-border supply chain impacts. He or she will also cover the EU’s foreign direct investment vetting process, including portfolio investments, which the European Commission plans to add to its oversight activities.

In addition, the role includes tracking Free Trade Agreements as the EU seeks partners beyond the U.S., and examining the intersection of trade, central banking, and finance. Coverage will extend to the impact of the movement of money and trade, including the EU’s finance regulators, Eurogroup, the IMF, and the World Bank.
