CMS Policy: Proposed 0.09% Medicare Rate Appears More Likely to Climb Due to Technical Changes Than CMS Backing Down on Risk Adjustment Policies

Last week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published an advance notice proposing both technical and policy-related changes to the Medicare Advantage (MA) and Medicare Part D payment methodologies that would, on average, result in a nearly flat rate increase of 0.09% between 2026 and 2027, according to the agency.
