IBM/HashiCorp: FTC Staff Probing Potential for Reduced Competition, Innovation in Cloud Software, Encryption Tools

FTC staff investigating IBM’s (IBM) proposed acquisition of HashiCorp (HCP) is asking industry participants whether customers of HashiCorp’s multi-cloud and encryption management software could switch to viable alternatives after the merger if they so desired, and whether the $6.4 billion deal would slow innovation, sources familiar with the matter said.
