The Capitol Forum is pleased to announce the appointment of Joanna Sopinska as Senior Trade Correspondent. She will join our team on Wednesday, October 1st. Her appointment will further strengthening our European reporting team and expanding our coverage of global trade policy. With deep expertise and credibility in Brussels, Sopinska will deliver incisive analysis on the regulatory and policy decisions shaping trade and markets across Europe.
Sopinska joins The Capitol Forum after eight years as Global Trade Correspondent at MLex in Brussels, where she focused on regulatory risks and the impact of EU trade policies on businesses. She previously reported on trade for EU Trade Insights and spent nearly a decade at Europolitics, covering EU trade and regulatory affairs. She holds advanced degrees in International Relations from the University of Łódź and European Affairs from the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht, with additional studies in the UK. She speaks English, Polish, and French.
“I’m thrilled to join The Capitol Forum as Senior Trade Correspondent and look forward to providing in-depth analysis on Europe’s evolving trade policies,” Sopinska said. “In today’s complex and fast-changing policy landscape, understanding the intersection of regulation and trade flows is more critical than ever, and I’m eager to contribute to The Capitol Forum’s mission of delivering timely, accurate, and insightful coverage.”
Javier Espinoza, Europe Executive Editor at The Capitol Forum, added: “Joanna brings unmatched credibility and sourcing in trade policy, and her decision to join us is a vote of confidence in what we’re building at The Capitol Forum — a serious, independent challenger for EU policy journalism. She’s joining not just because of where we are, but because of where we’re going.”
Sopinska joins a dynamic European team under Espinoza’s leadership, which combines investigative rigor with nuanced insights into policy and regulatory developments. Readers benefit from exclusive reporting and specialized coverage such as The European Antitrust Agenda, which highlights the most significant developments reshaping Europe’s markets.
