Foreign-owned firms that are U.S. government contractors such as Chinese tech multinational Lenovo Group (HKEX: 0992), NTT Data Group (TSE: 9613) and Thales (ENX: HO) are likely to face heightened scrutiny under new Department of Defense (DOD) regulations.
This regulatory framework will require non-U.S. contractors to undergo Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI) assessments before they can be awarded unclassified defense contracts valued at more than $5 million that involve cybersecurity, personally identifiable information or other potential risks to national security.
