Omnicom/IPG: Indian Regulator Poised to Approve Mega Advertising Agency Deal Soon

India’s antitrust regulator is set to greenlight advertising behemoth Omnicom’s (OMC) proposed $13 billion acquisition of rival Interpublic Group (IPG) in the coming weeks, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The deal, filed with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on March 3, is unlikely to have any significant impact on the Indian market, mainly due to the presence of other significant players, two sources said. They added that even with the Omnicom/IPG combination, British advertising and communications company WPP (NYSE/LSE: WPP) would remain the country’s biggest operator of ad agencies.
