The Capitol Forum hosted a conference call with Nick Nemeth, investor and writer of “Mispriced Assets”, to discuss the life and annuity industry’s growing exposure to private credit and the potential risks for insurers and the broader financial system.
The conversation examined concerns surrounding the valuation and liquidity of insurers’ private credit investments, affiliated investments, and hidden concentrations as the industry becomes increasingly intertwined with private equity firms and asset managers. Nemeth also discussed the role of reinsurance and risk-based capital calculations, as well as whether regulators are equipped to keep pace with financial innovation.
